Tagline: Love doesn't come cheap.
Starring: Debra Messing, Dermot Mulroney
Everyone knows that breaking up is hard to do. Alas...It's even worse when you are the one getting dumped. Debra Messing plays Kat Ellis, a woman suffering from "single girl anxiety" who is cordially invited to attend the wedding of her sister Amy (stylishly played by Amy Adams) but is bombarded with the fear of arriving to the wedding alone. In midst of her own personal desperation, she decides to hire a male escort (Dermot Mulroney) for $6000.00 to pose as her current boyfriend. Armed with light-hearted comedy and an unexpected twist, "The Wedding Date" proves that "Will and Grace"'s, Debra Messing is a force to be reckoned with.
Although my synopsis of this movie seems geared on a positive note, my personal reflection is a little different. Not only did this film seem a little far-fetched, it also lacked any semblance of humor. Although the performance by Debra Messing was truly unforgettable, I feel as if the producer could have chosen a more likable lead man. Dermot Mulroney's performance left a bad taste in my mouth. If I was going to hire a man for $6000 dollars, I would make sure he was perfect in every way. Is the scar on his upper lip an added bonus? Or something that even the "Discovery Health" channel cannot fix. Basically People, I would let this movie collect dust on a shelf somewhere. Hidden from view, so that no one has to view something this commercial and this dull. 2 out of 7. IF you rent this film, you must go STR8 to jail. DO not pass go. Do not collect $200. In fact, give ME the money. You're just wasting yours anyways.
